“A Woman for Equality,” is my artwork in honor of the 100 year anniversary of the 19th amendment giving women the right to vote.
It is a self portrait with text from Elizabeth Cady Stanton’s opening statement for her “Declaration of Sentiments,” presented at Seneca Falls, New York in 1848. I am wearing a t-shirt that was made to further the cause of the ERA (Equal Rights Amendment). I wore the shirt during a Los Angeles march in support of the ERA, in the early 1980’s.
